The
Sony XPERIA Z3 Tablet Compact is the big screen of the XPERIA Z3 mobile phone.
It has a similar waterproof design but a tablet form factor. It is blessed with
a wafer-thin, waterproof case, a quad-core 2.5GHz chipset, a Full HD screen,
and an 8.1 megapixel rear camera for photography and video recording. It also
features NFC for wireless data exchange up close. Although the early harvest of
Android tablets was big 10-inch affairs, the XPERIA Z3 Tablet Compact - as the
long-winded name implies - slips easier into your pocket at the start of your
morning commute. With its 8-inch screen, this device is in the same amount as
the Nexus 7, the LG G Pad 8.3 and the iPad mini 3, which are small-sized slates
that are ideal for traveling.

Design:
The
designers of Sony have clearly found their distinctive look, since the XPERIA
series has remained largely unchanged for several years. The company prefers
sharp, straight edges and a mixture of metal and plastic. The XPERIA Z3 Tablet Compact
will inevitably follow its example. With 6.4mm, it's almost impossible for a
tablet to keep the overall weight down - it only weighs 270g - Sony has
developed a device that does not overload your wrists. There are no complaints
that you need to hold with just one hand. This makes it ideal if you travel by
public transport and need another arm to calm down between bumpy stops. The
weight was reduced because not much metal was used in the construction. In
contrast to the XPERIA Z3 phone, the XPERIA Z3 Tablet Compact has only metal
corners, but the material that runs along the edges is really just plastic with
a metallic effect.
The
back of the tablet is also made of plastic, which does not look as good as the
glass of the XPERIA Z3 phone, but has the positive effect of making it less
likely to slip out of hand onto cold, hard-wearing concrete. Its matte texture
also improves the grip, but this security comes at a cost - the overall effect
is less noticeable than the aluminum mini-coated iPad mini, and it also picks
up marks and scratches a bit too quickly for our taste.
Sony XPERIA Z3 Tablet Compact -
Screen:
The
display is a 1200 x 1920 pixel triluminos panel with a pixel density of 283
ppi. It is impressively punchy and colorful with excellent brightness and good
readability in direct sunlight. The glass is said to be shatterproof and has an
oleophobic coating to prevent the formation of unsightly fingerprints. Of
course we were not brave enough to test the former, and the latter seems to be
a hollow boast - after a few minutes the screen was overflowing with stains and
bold prints.
While
it's true that the XPERIA Z3 Tablet Compact's display is behind the competition
in terms of mere pixels, you never feel like you're missing it. The text is
sharp and the pictures look clear and clear. So if you do not want to magnify
the screen, you're unlikely to search for extra pixel density. The viewing
angles are also excellent. The picture stays clear and legible, no matter how
you hold the tablet.
