Sony
is to work on a new flagship, the XPERIA XZ4, with a 52-megapixel rear camera.
Expected at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in late 2019, Sony XPERIA XZ4 will
compete with top-of-the-line Android phones with top-end specs such as the
Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, QHD + display and three reversing cameras.
Highlight of the Sony XPERIA XZ4 is the reversing camera. With a 52-megapixel
sensor, it will be one of the few phones in the world that has a 40-megapixel
camera. Honor View10 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 have been introduced with a 48
megapixel reversing camera. The sensor could be an improved version of the IMX
586, which paved the way for 48 megapixel sensors on smartphones.
In
addition to a 52 megapixel sensor, XPERIA XZ4 has two additional sensors with
16 megapixel sensors (1: 2.6 telephoto lens) and 0.3 megapixel sensors (1:
4/4). When XPERIA XZ4 is launched, XPERIA XZ4 is also being acquired by Sony,
one of the first smartphones with three rear cameras. The Sony XPERIA Xz4 is
powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor and offers up to 6GB of RAM and
128GB of storage. The phone supports up to 512 GB of expandable memory via a
microSD card. Sony XPERIA XZ4 is equipped with a 6.5-inch OLED display with HDR
and Gorilla Glass protection. Other expected features of the Sony XPERIA Xz4
include a 4,400 mAh battery, wireless Qi charging and Android 9.0 Pie.
The
announcement of the Sony XPERIA XZ4 will not take long, and the smartphone's
specifications may have surfaced. We list the most obvious things for you. The
specifications were discovered and shared by the unknown website SumahoInfo
(via GizmoChina). The picture seems to come from the Chinese or Taiwanese
website of Sony. The XPERIA XZ4 is not explicitly mentioned, but the
specifications point to a new flagship. Perhaps the most important feature of
the XZ4 is the screen, which has a noticeable aspect ratio of 21 to 9.
Therefore, the display is much longer than the screens of many other Android
devices. The OLED display also has thinner edges, a high resolution of 3360 x
1440 pixels and supports HDR.
It
is also noticeable that a battery capacity of not less than 4400 mAh is
mentioned. The previous high-end device from Sony, the XPERIA XZ3, had a
relatively modest battery with 3300 mAh. Due to the large battery, the XZ4
lasts longer when fully charged, although this battery is also needed for the
larger screen. In addition, the Sony XPERIA XZ4 offers support for fast
charging and wireless charging, the latter works via the Qi standard, so you
can install the smartphone in any wireless charging path to charge the battery.
In
addition, the Sony XPERIA XZ4 standard seems to offer more storage space than
its predecessor. If the XZ3 has 64GB of memory, the XZ4 will appear at 128GB.
Various manufacturers like Huawei with the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro and OnePlus
with the 6T already deliver their high-end smartphones with 128 GB. This would
be a logical step from Sony. The specification list also shows that the new
flagship includes the Snapdragon 855 chip from Qualcomm with 6GB of RAM and
support for Micro SD cards (up to 512GB). The device would measure 167 by 72 by
8.2 millimeters, weigh 191 grams and be dust and waterproof.
