The
XPERIA Z4 tablet from Sony is simply the best big Android tablet on the market.
The Sony XPERIA Z4 Tablet is extremely slim, extremely fast and offers a
state-of-the-art Android 5.0 Lollipop experience. As an entertainment device,
the large screen and the improved sound are ideal, and there is a keyboard
accessory for the business audience. It is also waterproof and has a long life.
This is as close as on an iPad on Android.
Sony's
classic industrial design has been polished in the last iterations of the
XPERIA series. The hard edges are rounded, but the high quality materials are
retained. The first thing you notice about the XPERIA Z4 Tablet is how thin and
lightweight it is. With 6.1 mm, the iPad Air 2 Apple can be used to the stop.
But at 389 grams it is much easier. The iPad Air 2 is 437 grams. It's not a
challenge to pick it up with one hand, and its light weight makes it easy to
read, play and watch movies. You could almost say it's too light. I do not want
to try, but it feels like you could bend it in half if you accept the idea.
The
Z4 has the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop installed, and Sony has a light touch
with its user interface. It also graciously avoided overloading the tablet with
apps. The navigation is smooth and the 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, 64-bit
octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM clearly provides enough power. Sony really
wants to sell this device as an entertainment device, and there is a 10.1-inch
display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. It looks great, but it's
difficult to get a sense of how it works in the open air or in the confines of
a quiet, dark room when you hold it in MWC's bright cabin environment. There
are a number of proprietary sound enhancements that improve the audio quality
of each source and eliminate unnecessary noise. You do not want to hear music
without headphones, but it's easy enough for a movie.
Sony
also hopes to woo the business audience. It has worked on app partnerships and
security, so Microsoft Office for Android is preinstalled and there is also a
keyboard attachment. The quality of the experience for business and leisure
travel is enhanced by the impressive 6,000 mAh battery promised by Sony,
offering 17 hours of video playback. There is also no compromise on memory. On
board are 32 GB, 27 GB are freely available, and there is a micro SD card slot
that can hold cards up to 128 GB in size. One area that Sony has not really
improved is the main camera, which is 8.1 megapixels. However, the front-facing
camera has encountered 5.1 megapixels and has a wide-angle lens for group self-service.
There are all sorts of augmented reality effects that allow you, for example,
to switch faces or find out what you would look like as a cat. It's
indisputable gimmickry, but it can be fun. The XPERIA Z4 tablet may be the best
big Android tablet on the market, but that's partly because there really is not
