After the XPERIA E3, the Sony XPERIA E4 is a mid-range
smartphone with a design that differs from that of its predecessor. In fact, it
has a round shell (as opposed to the XPERIA E3, much square) and thinner edges
around the screen. The Sony XPERIA E4 is compatible with H + (21 Mb / s) and
Wi-Fi and offers the ability to surf mobile broadband. Also note the presence
of other connections such as Bluetooth 4.0 and Micro USB 2.0 port.
Sony XPERIA E4 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and allows you to
download applications to the Google Play Store (including Facebook, WhatsApp,
Instagram, etc.). Android also allows you to customize your smartphone: you can
change the menus, ringtones and wallpapers. Note that the Sony XPERIA E4 has a 2300
mAh battery that allows communication to 12:40 and 653 hours of standby.
Sony has announced that its XPERIA E4 budget device will
receive a 4G version in the spring. The XPERIA E4G is LTE-enabled, allowing
users to get the fastest download speeds on the go. However, the XPERIA E4G is
not just a copy of the E4, as the specification differs slightly from its 3G
predecessor. While the XPERIA E4 features a 4.7-inch (960 x 540) resolution and
a 1.3GHz ARM Mali-400 MP2 quad-core processor, the XPERIA E4G has a 5-inch
960x540 display and a 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT6732 processor. Surprisingly, the
XPERIA E4G is actually lighter and a fraction smaller than the E4 because it
weighs only 135g and measures only 133x71x10.8mm, compared to the E4's weight
of 144g and 137x74x10.5 mm.
Apart from that, both phones have 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of memory
(which can be extended up to 32 GB via a micro SD card), a 2-megapixel front
camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera with 4-fold digital zoom and full digital
zoom, HD video recording. They also have a 2300 mAh battery, which according to
Sony is able to achieve a battery life of two days in the energy-saving
endurance mode.
XPERIA E4's goal is to provide many of the premium features
expected of Sony with lower-end devices. XPERIA E4g delivers the same quality
and ease-of-use with super-fast 4G LTE connectivity, said Tony McNulty, vice
president of value category business management for Sony Mobile Communications.
"With the ease of setup and unrivaled two-day battery life, we believe
both models are of value to those who need world-class Sony technology and
experience, often associated with high-end devices only."
4G is also not the only innovation in the XPERIA E4g, since
Sony has announced that it also has NFC, which enables, among other things,
contactless payment. The last change is a processor bump, from 1.3 GHz quad
core in the original to 1.5 GHz quad core. The other specifications are the
same, including 1GB of RAM, a 5.0-inch 960x540 display, 8GB of memory, and a
2300mAh battery that may seem to last up to 2 days. The design also looks
identical, with a plastic construction, rounded edges and a metal button. The
XPERIA E4g will be available in white and black and will be available in April
for both single-SIM cards and dual-SIM cards for $ 129. However, there is still
no confirmation in which markets it will come to the market.
This may seem like a small change, but could be a significant
addition to many potential buyers, as in the UK and many other places the 4G
coverage is now quite prevalent and not set at the slow speeds of 3G is much
fun.
