The
XPERIA XA phone from Sony, the reasonably priced X series, was absolutely
great, but also pretty stuttering and suffered from poor battery life. At £ 240
it was not cheap in the UK, it cost more than comparable cheap phones like the
Moto G4 and Honor 5C. Unperturbed, Sony is back with a new budget blower for
2016, the XPERIA E5, which offers very similar specifications as the XPERIA XA,
but at less than half the price. Here you will find our detailed XPERIA E5
test, British specifications and everything else you need to know.
The
XPERIA E5 is like the XPERIA XA a 5-inch phone; unfortunately, the XA's
beautiful edge-to-edge screen design is omitted (which is not surprising given
the low cost of the E5). Nevertheless, the slim and slim Sony design feels comfortable
in the hand and denies the budget. The screen itself is good at this price
point. Viewing angle and brightness are the same as the XPERIA XA, although the
E5's display produces warmer colors and the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 (which
artificially enhances photos and video) or Super Vivid mode does not support
color vibration.
A
simple Mediatek processor with 1.5 GB of RAM supports the show. So far, the
XPERIA E5 holds up well. We have seen very little stuttering or delays and will
be testing the performance and battery life for our detailed E5 test. They also
have a 13 megapixel rear camera with a single LED flash. Although there is no
superior automatic mode, there is a fairly powerful automatic function that
focuses and takes a picture in a very short time. You can also shoot with
manual control and record Full HD video at 30 frames per second. The XPERIA E5,
however, seems to be stronger than ever. The hardware is significantly better
than its predecessor in virtually all areas: design, display, power-crunching
and even imaging. On paper, it is a worthy successor, but sold in Europe for
the equivalent of about $ 210. Is that enough to be successful?
However,
Sony fans will soon find that the physical trigger for the signature is
missing. Although we cannot handle this omission, we found the volume rocker
located on the top of the frame too far away for comfortable working, even with
hands above average. The power button is easily accessible and both buttons
offer a satisfying click when pressed.
