Sony
has reduced its wide range of different models and configurations to a small
number of customizable notebooks, with VAIO Fit (correspondingly) being the
first we've seen. This name is also very suitable for a slim designed chassis. It's
still quite big, because it has to use a 15.5-inch display, but the sleek
aluminum frame and glossy black bezel look chic and stylish. The thickness is
22.5 mm, and if it is not 2.4 kg, it can almost be a great book. It even uses
the same low-voltage processor as the Ultra Book, but is probably more
comprehensive than this ultra-portable design.
Performance:
It
is available in various sizes, but our evaluation example includes a 2 GHz
processor with Intel Core i7-3537U and 8 GB RAM. 51 points were achieved in our
multimedia benchmarks. This is what we expect from this type of processor, but
it's still fast enough to run multiple programs and programs that require
multiple threads simultaneously. Our samples are also equipped with a dedicated
2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 735M graphics chip to play games. This mid-range chip is
not as powerful as other dedicated graphics chips. You can find it on other

Showdown test X720 resolutions.
This
is a good value for non-gaming laptops, but there are some adjustments to enjoy
the game at the original resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. If we run the test again
with this resolution, we can only perform the quality management of 25.6 fps.
Instead we had to set the setting low and disable anti-aliasing to get smoother
50fps at 1080p. However, you can run older games with higher settings.
Display:
The
Fit 15-inch Full HD display looks good and the glossy surface lets the color
stand out. Red, green and blue are bright and vibrant, and white is lit evenly
on the screen. Similar to the Sony VAIO Pro and Sony Duo 13, the average
viewing angle of the adjustment is somewhat reduced. Although the black is very
deep, the bottom half of the screen is always brighter than the top half and is
more noticeable in our high-contrast images. Although the color looks very
rich, the contrast is rather mediocre, and we found it difficult to select
high-level details in the dark areas of each photo. In this case, the
reflective nature of the screen certainly did not help, but we saw it very
well. Our samples also have an optional touchscreen, but you will get 80 €
again. If you tilt the display backwards, it will raise the back of the
customization and set the keyboard at a small angle to make typing easier.
Input device:
There
is also room for improvement with the backlit keyboard. It's big enough to fit
on a numeric keypad, but the Chiclet-style flat keys are much spaced and there
may be more space between the keys for a better tactile feel. Some keys, eg.
For example, the left shift key can also benefit from a slightly larger size.
Sony has pushed the keyboard into a very high position in the case, which helps
your posture when you tap with your hands away from the body in a small area.
The
touchpad does not take advantage of the extra space under the keyboard. We
prefer a lower one. Although there are no physical buttons, it responds very
quickly, allowing you to navigate the desktop or run Windows 8 shortcuts.
Multi-touch gestures such as pinch zoom are a bit too sensitive, but two-finger
scrolling works well.
Fit
has a variety of ports and has everything you want. In addition to the DVD
drive, there is a USB2 and two USB3 ports, an HDMI video output for connecting
external monitors, SD card reader and Gigabit Ethernet ports. Battery life,
however, is fairly average, as it took us only 5 hours in our test to use the
light and the screen was set to half the brightness.
