Back in the daytime, the LG G5 is a great phone -
unfortunately this is 2016, unless you can get a very good price, now there is
a better way to spend money. For beginners, the modularity of the USP phone was
never really uplifted; just a few extra things were released. I just want to
say that they are hard to find in 2018.
So, what should you pay attention to? If you want modular
corrections, there is really only one choice: Moto Z2 Play. Like the LG G5,
these Moto-mods can change the way your smartphone works, but it's more
compelling. You do not have to turn off your phone to switch it, as it is only
attached to the back. For a second, you can actually buy a mod. Unlike other
flagship smartphones, the LG G5 is a completely different phone - it has a
modular design.
LG G5 Modular Design:
It's by far not the first smartphone to incorporate
interchangeable modules into its design - Google's Project Ara has this
particular honor, but it's still the first major maker to buy and use like a
regular phone. This brings many benefits to the G5, as it not only means that
you can adapt it to the task at hand, but longer than other traditional
smartphones on the market. Ok, so it's not as waterproof as the S7, but if you
do not know, it should still survive the occasional showers. It is indisputable
that it is quite another matter if you really want to carry additional modules.
More importantly, G5 currently has only two modules available, and it seems
that LG will not follow them so quickly £ 80 Cam Plus, a camera grip with
physical button and zoom wheel, and a £ 150 Hi-Fi Plus, a Bang & Olufsen
Hi-Fi portable DAC with 384 KHz HD audio with 32-bit B & O built-in
amplifier, however that's it.
In any case, £ 150 is required to pay for high-resolution
audio support - especially if the HTC 10 is standard - even the camera handle
seems disproportionately expensive. While Cam Plus offers more grip on the
surface as well as physical shutter, video recording, and zoom buttons, it's
not enough to facilitate landscape orientation. Its inner edge is also very
slippery, which is a bit dangerous and unhelpful in one-handed operation.
It's certainly not the Hasselblad True Zoom module from Moto
Z and Moto Z Play that gives Motorola's new flagship good grip and 10x optical
zoom, but Cam Plus is also much cheaper. However, after trying out two modules,
I'd rather pay more for the Hasselblad expansion from Moto Z than for the
rather disappointing Cam Plus. Hi-Fi Plus may be more attractive than Cam Plus,
especially if you're using your phone as a primary music player, but it's still
quite expensive. It greatly enhances the overall picture, expanding the range
of sound you hear and making the bass more powerful. However, if you do not
have a music library with high-resolution soundtracks, the difference between
ordinary music is that it does not win. It's so eye-catching. Yes, it sounds
better, but I do not pay the £ 150 privilege.
LG G5 Battery Life:
For example, in our test for continuous video playback, when
we set the screen brightness to a standard of 170 cd / m2, the G5 11h 10mW 2m
battery lasted 10m. Although not as good as the 17 hours and 48 meters I got
from the S7 - compared to a bigger 3,000 mAh battery - anyone who has a
different G5 battery module can theoretically run for 22 hours and up Extend
for 20 minutes to get enough juice. Let you spend the day and go to the next
day.
The loading speed is also very fast. In the test, I received
a 30% fee in 15 minutes, and it only takes 30 minutes to reach 50%, which makes
charging during the day easier. At a minimum, remember to bring the included
USB-C cable, as LG chose the USB-C port of the G5 instead of the standard
Micro-USB port. However, it is at least equipped with a USB-C to USB-A cable,
unlike the LG Nexus 5X, which comes with only a USB-C to USB-C cable. If you
use a USB C to A cable, you can still use it with your existing USB plug and
connect it to your PC or laptop to transfer files and photos.
LG G5 Performance:
The modular design is not the only interesting thing about
the G5, because it's also the first smartphone I've seen with the new
Snapdragon 820 chip from Qualcomm. In contrast to the 2.0 GHz Snapdragon 810
with eight cores (which is supported by almost all major smartphones in 2015),
the Snapdragon 820 is a quad-core chip with a maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz.
However, more cores do not necessarily mean better performance, as G5 has
proven much faster in our benchmarks. Equipped with 4 GB of memory, the G5
scored an impressive 2,325 points in the Geekbench 3 single-core test and 5,422
points in the multi-core test. The latter is not as high as the S737 score of
the S7, but the single-core score of the G5 is almost 200 points faster,
indicating that it can beat S7 in certain missions.
The Snapdragon 820 GPU also offers excellent graphics
performance. For example, in the GFX Bench GL off-screen Manhattan 3.0 test, G5
produced 2,844 frames and converted to super-smooth 46fps. This is
significantly higher than with S7 and S7 Edge, which can only be controlled by
37fps in the same test. In practice, complex games like Hearthstone are easily
processed.
