Galaxy
Note 9 is (again) official, and at the time of the first inspection Samsung
seems to have made very few changes to Note 8. There are a few reasons for
this, but in addition to the eye-catching look, a closer look Price idea, there
is a big upgrade.
Display - Samsung's biggest screen
ever:
It's
not a big jump, but the Galaxy Note 9 has the largest display that Samsung has
ever loaded into the mass-market smartphone.
*
Galaxy Note 9 - 6.4 inches, 18.5: 9 aspect ratio, super AMOLED, 1440 x 2960
pixels (516 ppi pixel density), 83.4% screen / body ratio, HDR10 compatible,
Corning Gorilla Glass 5
*
Galaxy Note 8 - 6.3 inches, 18.5: 9 aspect ratio, super AMOLED, 1440 x 2960
pixels (521 ppi pixel density), 83.2% screen / body ratio, HDR10 compatible,
Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Since
Samsung maintains the same native resolution for larger displays, the other
look is a slightly higher screen-to-body ratio (due to the smallest edge) and a
slightly lower pixel density. However, I doubt anyone will notice these changes.
Samsung has not yet described the panel upgrade in detail, but it is expected
that the display will be brighter and more accurate than the already excellent
grade 8.
Passing
on to someone Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy Note 8 makes it difficult for many people
to separate them, but they may notice a slight increase in size and weight:
*
Galaxy Note 9 - 161.9 x 76.4 x 8.8 mm (6.37 x 3.01 x 0.35 inches), 201 g (7.09
ounces)
*
Galaxy Note 8 - 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6 mm (6.40 x 2.94 x 0.34 inches), 195 g (6.88
ounces)
Although
smartphones are getting heavier, these are tiny differences. Samsung has added
some new features in addition to the size given the recent larger display and
battery. Finally, there are stereo speakers that have already passed the AKG
and Dolby Atoms brands, Tuning, although the latter looks stupid, because
stereo speakers cannot really play Atmos audio. The fingerprint sensor is also
more useful under the reversing camera that Samsung has built with the Galaxy
S9.
Another
important change is the light yellow S-pen. For the first time Samsung is
equipped with Bluetooth LE for more powerful features, such as: Camera shutter
release, clicks, and music playback controls during the presentation. The new S
Pen can also be charged automatically via a super capacitor from the Galaxy
Note, so it is always available and consumes very little battery from the phone
itself. The only thing that corresponds to the S Pen in Grade 8 is the pressure
sensitivity of 4,096 levels, but that's enough.
Camera - Samsung Doubles:
The
Galaxy Note 9 has the same hardware as the Galaxy S9 Plus. This means that the
rear 12 MP camera is equipped with a dual aperture main lens that switches
between F2.4 (described in well-lit shots) and F1.5 (in low light) while Note 8
is the default Sensor F1.7 used. The add-on module still has a 2x optical zoom,
although Huawei copes with the impressive P20 Pro 3 times.
In
addition, the camera hardware of the Galaxy Note 9 is identical to Note 8
(pixel size, disappointing 8MP F1.7 front camera, etc.). The focus is therefore
on the new image processing for mobile phones. Samsung claims to have made
progress since the Galaxy S9 (Huawei has introduced a new "scenario
optimizer", the results are mixed), although the S9 is still vulnerable to
Google 2017 Pixel 2, it still has a lot of benefits.
Samsung
has upgraded from Note 8 and added the Smart Sense facial recognition software
to the Galaxy S9. It's not as fast or exactly like the Face ID on the iPhone X,
its "AR Emoji" is not as refined as Apple's "Animoji", but
it's still a useful add-on, as Samsung is far from it offers fingerprint
reader.
Performance - Storage King:
Samsung
also introduced the Galaxy S9 Galaxy Note 9's internal structure, which
provides a major upgrade for both the US and international versions of Note 8:
*
Galaxy Note 9 (USA) - Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with eight cores (4x
2.7GHz Cryo 385 Gold and 4x1.7GHz Cryo 385 Silver CPU), Adreno 630 GPU
*
Galaxy Note 9 (Europe and Asia) - Exynos 9810 (4x 2.8GHz Mongoose M3 and
4x1.7GHz Cortex-A55 CPU), Mali G72 MP18 GPU
Note
8 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which is 20% slower than the new 845 and
consumes 30% less power. Samsung has also upgraded the 8 GB memory from 8 to 8
GB, but only if you buy a (very expensive) top product.
