launch 4K smartphones. Some people believe that Samsung, LG or Motorola will
release it in front of the Japanese company. On the contrary, it's Sony's 4K
jump with XPERIA Z5 Premium. Despite its name, Z5 Premium has more to do with
other Z5 series products than the XPERIA Z3 + with Destiny X. Depending on the design;
the company has opted to abandon the frosted glass design for a glass-like
look. The effect of other color choices is more subtle, but if there is no grip
that is as easy to grip as the standard Z5, the effect is not much different.

resolution display, where the 5.5-inch resolution provides a very high pixel
density of 806 pixels per inch for the Z5 Premium. This is more than double the
iPhone 6S Plus and 1.5 times the LG X4, both 5.5 inches tall, but only 1,920 x
1,080 and 2,560 x 1,440.
When I saw the phone for the first time, it could not render
the app in 4K format, but used the default resolution of 1920x1080 for
everything except Sony's album and movie apps. This is because Android 5.1.1
does not fully support 4K. Fortunately, Android Nougat, a free update for Z5
Premium users, supports 4K. This means that your phone now plays everything in
4K - this has a big impact on the overall picture of the display.
It should be noted that you can see the difference between 4K
and 1080P, but you need to keep your phone close to your face to appreciate it.
If you look at it from the normal viewing distance, the clear details become
very hard to see. This is probably not the most compelling reason to pay £ 600.
Sony hopes, however, that it will provide at least some future proof to application
developers (and Android) to catch up with the device.

- Battery Life:
The main reason for Sony's 1080p rendering is to preserve the
phone's battery life, as it is understandable that the 3430mAh battery will be
demolished immediately after 4K rendering. However, it does not seem to be
particularly good as the Z5 Premium only lasted 9 hours and 38 minutes in our
continuous video playback test. This is the worst result I have seen in the Z5
series. The Z5 holds 11 hours and 29 meters, while the Z5 Compact creates even
more impressive 13 hours and 21 meters. It's also pretty bad compared to other
tablets, as other phones of this size have held twice.
Sony XPERIA Z5 Premium
- Display:
The display quality does not reach the normal Z5. Although
the coverage of the sRGB color space of 97.6% still has one of the best IPS
displays, its accuracy is only a fraction lower than that of the Z5. For
example, if I compare them side by side, the overall color temperature of the
Z5 Premium is significantly lower than that of the Z5, meaning that the warmer
colors will not look so rich or powerful.
The screen of the Z5 Premium is not as bright as the Z5, as I
only measured the peak brightness of 455.25 cd / m2, compared to the 684.25 cd
/ m2 of the Z5. As a result, whites on the Z5 Premium are not as pure and pure
as their little brothers, which affect overall color brilliance. Not only bad
news, because the Z5 Premium has a contrast ratio of 1.255: 1 and a black level
of 0.36 cd / m2. Both smaller siblings fail, resulting in deeper blacks and
more detailed images.
