Since Intel updated its eighth-generation mobile-friendly
chipset, we've seen some amazing laptops with Intel processors and great NVIDIA
graphics. The HP Gaming Pavilion (15-cx0144tx) is an excellent 15.6-inch gaming
notebook with Intel's i7 6-core 8th generation chip and GPU; it has a NVIDIA
GTX 1050Ti that helps you draw graphics weight.
HP's gaming laptop does a lot of things, but that does not
mean that the laptop is not quirky. Please tell us all relevant information in
this test.
Build and shape:
The laptop has a very unique design and once you open it, you
will notice that the laptop has a thickness. It has a thickness of 2.5 cm at
the thickest point and a weight of 2.17 kg. Although it is heavier, it is still
not very heavy compared to other gaming laptops in the market. Open the lid to
see the 15.6-inch IPS display and the bezel is clearly visible, but you'll get
used to it when using your laptop. It's good that HP keeps the bezel black. The
display cover has a certain curvature, but is still stable and does not feel
fragile. The webcam is in the usual position above the display.
The keyboard itself is well laid out and on the right side
there is a numeric keypad. You'll also find a speaker grille with a grid
diamond design with two up sharing speakers with B & O Play and HD Audio
Boost. The trackpad is placed slightly to the left to take over the position
where the trackpad is aligned with the keyboard. The bottom of the laptop has a
grille inlet for the fan, and that's it.
Display:
The device we received was equipped with a 15.6-inch IPS
display with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. You can buy the same laptop with a 144Hz
display, but at a higher cost. However, since this monitor is equipped with the
NVIDIA GTX1050Ti, the 60 Hz display works well. There is no backlight on the
display; it seems that HP has chosen a good IPS panel for the laptop. The
display covers 66% of the sRGB color gamut and 50% of the Adobe gamut. If you
would like to use this laptop for content creation, we recommend that you use
it for a color-consistent ad. But for games and other productivity and
entertainment purposes, the display works well. The maximum brightness the
display can reach is 265 nits, which is good enough.
Keyboard and Trackpad:
The keyboard that HP offers with your laptop is ideal for
typing with a travel distance of 1.15 mm. The keys give them good feedback and
they have a little power to compensate for a good typing experience. For games,
the keyboard needs some time to get used to, especially if you're working with
a mechanical keyboard with keys like Cherry MX Blues or Romer-G. The keyboard
has LED backlighting in white LED colors, which would be great if you want to
use your laptop in a dark environment. For the trackpad, the trackpad on this
laptop does not use the Windows Precision driver, but the ELAN driver. However,
you will not have any problems with the touchpad / trackpad as it works well
and feels good. It has a matte interface with two clickable buttons for
left-click and right-click.
Camera:
According to HP, the webcam on this laptop supports 1080p
video calls. It comes with HP True Vision Full HD, but if you want to use a
webcam while streaming, the video captured by this camera produces a lot of
noise and particles, which may not be the best choice. For video calls and
Windows Hello the webcam works perfectly.
Windows Hello:
Since Microsoft introduced Windows 10 and used infrared
projectors and point projectors, Windows Hello has become a thing. With
laptops, you can set up Windows Hello, which uses your face recognition data to
lock and encrypt your laptop. Windows Hello works fine on this laptop, and
thanks to IR projectors and point projectors, Windows Hello can also be used in
the dark for face detection.
Speaker:
HP offers two speakers that start from the speaker grill
above the keyboard. The equalizer is optimized by B & O Play, and HP adds
audio enhancements to make the speakers even better. The sound is very clean,
but do not expect too much bass from your laptop. Although the speakers are not
very loud, they can happen because these speakers can handle clean sound in a
quiet environment.
Ports and connections:
HP has not ported the port in any way. You will get the
following connections on your laptop.
* 1x 3.5mm combination audio jack
* 1x Ethernet connection
* 1x full size HDMI 2.0 port
* 3x USB 3.0 Type-A
* 1x USB 3.1 Type-C
* 1x full sized SD card reader
Unfortunately, the USB Type-C port does not support
Thunderbolt 3, so you cannot connect an external GPU to your laptop. If you are
looking for a specific feature, please purchase Omen 15.
Battery life and
charge:
The notebook is equipped with a 3-cell 52.5 Wh lithium-ion
polymer battery to extend the battery life and run the notebook for 3.5 to 4
hours in general production efficiency. HP is equipped with a 150W power supply
for the notebook that allows HP to quickly charge the laptop quickly. According
to HP, 0-90% of the battery can be charged in 90 minutes, making it one of the
fastest charging notebooks (comparable battery).
In the game, the laptop uses the battery much faster, the
battery life of games on the laptop is about 50 minutes to 1 hour, once the
battery percentage is below a certain value, the dedicated NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti
GPU will kick back, your gaming performance will fall , Connect your laptop to
the power source while playing.
Hardware and
Performance:
The notebook is equipped with the Intel Core i7 8750H eighth
generation, a 6-core CPU with 2.2 GHz basic clock and Turbo Boost up to 4.1
GHz. Our equipment comes preinstalled with 8GB of RAM on the motherboard and a
slot for a different DDR4 mount, so you can easily upgrade your RAM as needed.
