There is no doubt that Sony XPERIA XZ2 Premium has some
interesting things to choose from. It has a 4K HDR display and an excellent
rear view camera that can record 4K HDR videos and take great pictures. If
you're looking for a 4K HDR phone, that's great, but we do not trust many
people and it all costs a price. We're talking about the $ 799 / $ 999 liter
price (which is particularly high for Americans) and the highly suspicious
design that involves too heavy a design.
If you're a Sony fan, then you might be good at this kind of
sacrifice, but you should first look at XZ3, which is a cheaper option. In the
wider market, XZ2 Premium is too competitive with phones of the same price or
cheaper, such as Huawei P20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S9. The XPERIA XZ3 is upgraded
to a lower price of just £ 699, but does not include all the features here.
XPERIA XZ2 Premium -
Design and Creation:
It's XZ2 (and Compact), which introduces the latest design
from Sony, so it's not surprising that the premium model is usually very

bad right now. We often say that when the battery is bigger, we prefer a
thicker phone, but XZ2 Premium is not, and there are no other things that are
particularly notable. Sony told us that the XPERIA XZ3 does not have a dual
camera for space, suggesting that this is the main reason why this phone is so
fat. There may not be any collisions with the camera, but many other phones
have two or even three reverse cameras, and they are not inconceivable, so we
are very upset.
In addition, Premium has other issues that have not been
corrected since XZ2, including the back of a round glass that will shake when
trying to use it on a flat surface. Our Chrome Black model has a mirror-like
surface that is covered with fingerprints a few minutes after removing it from
the box (we cleaned it up for the photo). There is also Chrome Silver, but that
can be worse. Yes, like many other phones on the market, the XZ2 Premium is
very slippery. So it's a risk to take it out of the bag or put it on a slightly
curved sofa arm. With the XZ2, the fingerprint scanner moves backwards from the
power button on our favorite page. This is very normal, but the premium also
has too little comfort. The natural resting place to hold the phone is the
camera, so it gets dirty.
Screen:
Therefore, the display is the first key feature here, because
Sony offers something that you may be more used to advertising. We were shocked
by the first XPERIA Z with Full HD screen, but XZ2 Premium is both 4K and HDR.
Whether you need a phone with ultra-high-definition resolution is
controversial, especially on a 5.8-inch screen. Normally we say that Quad HD is
enough. However, watching 4K HDR content on YouTube or other available apps is
amazing. Rich details and colors are very rich. Compared with the
HDR-compatible Galaxy Note 9 phone, we did not notice the difference in
resolution, but we prefer the more natural colors on Sony LCD monitors.
Few mobile phones are unique in this area unless they offer
amazing core specification combinations at much lower prices, such as OnePlus 6
or Xiaomi Pocophone F1. Sony XPERIA XZ2 Premium is very standard and you can
get the high price you expect. That's how you get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845,
6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is also a microSD card slot that can be
added as needed, up to 400GB. With this combination, the performance is not
surprising. Surprisingly, when viewing the 4K display, the impressive GFXBench
result. We're pretty sure this is a mobile phone running the app at a lower

Connection and Audio:
Advanced phones with price or name should be well connected,
and XZ2 Premium is so. It comes with dual-band 11ac Wi-Fi with aptX HD, GPS,
NFC, USB-C and Bluetooth 5.0. Despite the lack of an audio jack (with a USB-C
adapter), XZ2 Premium is very powerful in the audio department. The phone is
still equipped with stereo speakers, which in contrast to many competitors are
actually directed forward. This means that it will not be overwritten if you
keep the phone horizontal.
According to Sony, it is one of the best speaker phones and
has many features - the best ever XPERIA. You can also try a relatively new
dynamic vibration system, which is essentially tactile feedback when listening
to music or watching a video. We think this is a gimmick, but you may like it.
Camera:
Write it feels surreal, but XZ2 Premium is the first Sony
XPERIA with double rear view camera. That's weird as we're starting to use it
at the bottom of the market budget and Sony is providing most of the
competitors for mobile cameras. Note that the XZ3 does not have a dual camera.
It's a camera similar to the XZ2, so the 19Mp has dual PDAF and laser autofocus
- but it has a f / 1.8 aperture. The second is the 12 megapixel monochrome
sensor, which has a small icon in the camera app that you can use for bokeh
depth effects or just for black and white photos.
The photos are excellent in all conditions and you can enjoy
a pleasurable experience either in the app or through the two-sided camera
button on the side. We hope that Sony will never give it up. Use advanced auto
mode for quick and beautiful results, but you can also use manual mode if you
prefer.
In terms of video, XZ2 Premium can record in 4K resolution in
HDR - a rare feature of mobile phones. Sony said it was the first in the world,
especially the 10-bit HLG format. Then you can watch it on the 4K HDR screen.
It balances the dynamic range of the video very well, we just want the optical
image to be stable, because solid footage is not always well done.
If you buy this phone, HDR video in 4K is a big deal for you
and a key problem. It can be something that other cell phones cannot, but it's
another thing to really benefit from it. We do not do that for the average
consumer, but if you really like your video creation, then maybe this is the
best thing since sliced bread.
Battery life:
As already mentioned, it is not bad for a large battery that
the XZ2 Premium is so big and heavy. At 3540 mAh, however, it is above average
and slightly higher than normal XZ2, but there is nothing to write about. The
Huawei P20 Pro is 4000mAh and the mobile weighs 180g. You can charge
wirelessly, and the phone also supports Quick Charge 3.0 on USB-C. In our
tests, our test got 42% in 30 minutes, which is pretty good.
