Sony will announce the successor to its
outstanding XPERIA XZ3 at the Mobile World Congress in February, but what will
change in six months? So behaves the drunken XPERIA XZ4 based on the
speculation with the XPERIA XZ3.
XZ4 vs. XZ3
Design:
Rumor has it that the Sony XPERIA XZ4
continues to reduce the aperture at the top and bottom of the display compared
to the XPERIA XZ3, giving the screen more space. Leaky CAD renderings and
measurements indicate that the XZ4 will feature a larger, sleeker, lighter construction,
as well as a triple camera system on the back and the return of a side-mounted
fingerprint sensor. The XZ3 has a single camera and a slightly clumsy
fingerprint sensor.
As with the XPERIA XZ3, the dedicated camera
button remains at the bottom of the right edge on the XZ4's renderers, and USB
Type-C is at the bottom center. Sony is also expected to restore the water and
dust resistance of IP65 / 68. The XZ4's CAD images do not show whether the new
device offers the same curved screen and tail as the XZ3, but it is expected
that the XZ4 will again have a glass tail like its predecessor.
XZ4 vs XZ3
display:
The Sony XPERIA XZ4 will be equipped with a
larger display than its predecessor, with rumors of 6.5 inches like the iPhone
XS Max and not 6 inches like the XPERIA XZ3. It is assumed that the new model
offers an aspect ratio of 21: 9, with the screen being 152 mm in size. For
comparison, the display of the XPERIA XZ3 is about 136 mm in size and has an
aspect ratio of 18: 9.
Sony expects OLED to choose the XZ4 panel as
the brilliant XZ3, and features such as HDR compatibility for mobile phones and
Sony's X-Reality and Triluminos technologies are expected to be back on board.
The resolution is given as 3360 x 1440 pixels for the XZ4, resulting in a pixel
density of about 562 ppi. This makes it a bit sharper than the XZ3 with a
resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 537 ppi.
XZ4 vs XZ3
camera:
It is rumored that the Sony XPERIA XZ4 on the
back of a triple camera system. We expect this system to consist of a main
sensor, a telesensor for zoom and a depth sensor for bokeh effect images. The
Sony XPERIA XZ3 features a single rear-view camera sensor, Motion Eye's
19-megapixel motion-eye sensor, capable of delivering 1080p super-slow-motion video
at 960 frames per second. There are no reports showing which sensor we can
expect on the front of the XZ4, but we would not be surprised to see the same
as the XZ3 with software enhancements. AI features, including predictive
capture, are also expected for the XPERIA XZ4, as they were on previous Sony
flagships, but the new device is also expected to show some improvement.
Hardware and
Software:
The Sony XPERIA XZ4 is likely to run on the
Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, and it is claimed that it will provide 6GB of RAM and
128GB of storage, with Micro SD support up to 512GB. The Sony XPERIA XZ3 is
equipped with the Snapdragon 845 and also has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage
with micro-SD support.
In terms of battery capacity, the XPERIA XZ3
has a battery capacity of 3,300 mAh. However, it has been suggested that the
XZ4 has a huge 4400 mAh battery. The XZ3 offers wireless and fast charging, so
the XZ4 will undoubtedly do the same. The new handset will almost certainly be
available on Android Pie, like the XZ3, with Sony's software, which offers
superior features like Side Sense. However, we also expect some new features
for the XZ4.
