The HTC One V features a 3.7-inch touch screen
display and supports Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0 user
interface. It has an aluminum unibody. The HTC One V smartphone features a
3.7-inch touchscreen display with a WVGA (480 x 800) resolution, making text
and images look prettier. HTC has not clarified the LCD panel used, but
certainly looks better and offers a more vivid color rendition than its
predecessors. Under the sleek 9.24mm case, this smartphone features a 1GHz
Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 mobile processor with Adreno 205 graphics and 512MB
of memory. By default, the One V offers 4 GB of onboard memory, which is really
nice. You also get an 8 GB micro SD card as part of an offer for free.
This smartphone ships with the Android 4.0.3 Ice
Cream Sandwich build, which runs the HTC Sense 4.0 UI. Our first interaction
with the HTC Sense 4.0 recalled two words - smooth and fast. In addition to the
new HTC Sense UI, the home screen also has a number of the usual widgets. On
the One V, apps like 7Digital, TuneIn Radio, Bollywood Hungama and eBuddy XMS
are pre installed as standard. As promised, HTC also added the Dropbox app,
which offers free 25GB of cloud storage whenever a user logs in with a Dropbox
account or creates a new one.
The Home screen contains the App shortcuts folder
system, as in the Google Experience version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
HTC offers seven different startup screens, which unfortunately cannot be
managed. Task Manager has been reduced to work well with the limited 512 MB of
RAM. On the back there is a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and
BSI sensor, which promises great pictures even in low light conditions. The
camera app has been optimized and can now quickly click on multiple photos with
the least possible delay. By default, the Camera app has a number of filters
and built-in effects so the user can take memorable photos.
The HTC One V features Beats Audio integration,
which loads when the included headphones are connected. However, we were not
satisfied with the equalizer preset of the music player when different
headphones were connected. Like the HTC One X, this device also has a
replaceable 1500 mAh battery, which may not matter much, provided that relevant
applications are used. However, given HTC's preference for running background
apps, some services were run, although they were not used as such. A
razor-sharp display, excellent build quality and a smooth HTC Sense experience
were the highlights of the HTC One V. In India, the HTC One V was already
introduced at 18,299 rupees. With a free 8 GB micro SD card, the device is
cheaper.
