The best 2-in-1 laptops have come a long way since their
awkward first steps several years ago, and Samsung is perhaps the best example.
The Notebook 9 Pro of the legendary manufacturer is a fantastic example of an
improvement in meteorology. The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro is available in 13-inch
and 15-inch versions. It's a 2-in-1 laptop that's a long way from traditional
notebooks. The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro simplifies configuration with a single
configuration for both models, focusing on the S-Pen and Air Command software.
All this makes the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro a stylish yet
affordable Ultrabook, which is equipped with Samsung's latest touchscreen and
pen technology. To be honest, we are so impressed by the performance and style
of the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro, even though we have received the award we have
given it for the Editor's Choice Award. Samsung has sent the notebook 9 Pro and
cheap to be affordable. The 15-inch version we reviewed - its only
configuration - costs $ 1,299 (about $ 1,000). The 13-inch model costs $ 1,099,
about $ 850 and $ 1,460.
Design:
The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro builds on the tech giant's modern
laptop design in a way that is more consistent and closer to smart phone
design. This results in a curvier laptop than ever before, both in the lid and
on the keyboard deck, with outward-looking silver shimmer through a
carbon-colored metal inside. The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro keyboard deck is
spacious and comfortable and offers plenty of room for the huge trackpad.
Despite the size, Samsung opted for more space between the well-lit keys above
a numeric keypad.
Instead, the page control buttons and the arrow keys get
extra space. Meanwhile, the speakers are banished under the base. In these
rounded keys you will find a lot of punch and the slightest curvature of their
surface. Samsung has managed to create wonderfully thin bezels on the sides of
the display by squeezing a 15-inch diagonal screen into a 13.67-inch wide
frame. Similarly, the laptop is only 1.7 cm (0.67 inches) thin and weighs 1.7
kg (3.79 pounds).
The screen is as colorful as any other smartphone display
from Samsung and makes its comparatively satisfactory resolution of 1080p
absolutely. Samsung also calls this a RealView display, which can shine in
normal mode with 350 nits and in outdoor mode with up to 450 nits. This makes
it easier to see or play your work in the sunlight, though it is still a shiny
panel that makes glare annoying. Games and videos look brilliant on the
display, as do scribbles in the Samsung Air Command app.
The S-Pen under Windows
10:
Speaking of which, the inclusion of the S-Pen here is pretty
clever, with a slot for the stylus that's embedded in the right side of the
base on the lip. Unlike digital pens, it does not require recharging, yet still
offers pressure sensitivity up to 4,096 and tilt controls. This pen is
competitive with Microsoft's latest Surface Pen, which is twice as heavy and
requires a battery for the same basic functions except for a software eraser
and deeper Windows controls. When you drag the S-Pen out of the case, a radial
menu appears automatically with options showing the Action Center. This is
called an air command. Options include Create Note, View All Notes, Smart
Selection, Show Screen and Window.
Smart Select is a much more powerful tool that lets you use
the S-Pen to draw rectangular or oval screenshots and even read text from the
image and extract it into another document. Better yet, the tool can create
GIFs by placing a recording area over your favorite video clips, regardless of
source. Screen Write simply captures a screen and allows doodling. Show Window
lets you choose which windows appear on which screens in multi-screen
environments. All in all, it's a sturdy stylus offering that feels light and
fast. Digital ink does not do too much drawing and writing, thanks in part to a
strong display response. Although we prefer the "tiger" eraser in the
surface pen, we use the S-Pen based button to improve wearability and fun
features.
