The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle is a stunning midrange handset
with powerful audio capabilities and stylish design. The HTC 10, the flagship
of HTC, could be described similarly, but with higher specifications and a
higher price.
So how do these two phones compare? We have used them in
different categories to answer this question.
HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle
(156.9 x 76.9 x 7.7 mm) versus HTC 10 (145.9 x 71.9 x 9 mm):
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle features a 7.7mm polycarbonate
case with metal frame and gold accents. It does not feel like a flagship, but
it's definitely a stylish, appropriate high-end look, with the gold contrasting
well with the phone's other colors (which may be black, dark blue, light blue,
or white).
The HTC 10, on the other hand, has a metal unibody that
instantly looks higher than the HTC Desire 10 lifestyle. It also has a curvier
design that fits comfortably in your hand, but with a thickness of 9mm, it's
actually a bit chunkier. The HTC 10 is probably the better of the two - and
certainly the more expensive, but both handsets look good.
HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle
(5.5 inches 720 x 1280) compared to HTC 10 (5.2 inches 1440 x 2560):
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle has a large 5.5-inch display, but
with 720 x 1280 pixels is not particularly sharp, especially at the size, which
is at 267 pixels per inch. Still, it's still a pretty sharp display, but no
comparison with the 5.2-inch HTC 1040 (1440 x 2560), a crisp 565 pixels per
inch. Smaller ones also make it easier to work with one hand, although the HTC
Desire 10 Lifestyle is a good choice for games and movies due to its larger
size - but still weaker overall due to its lower resolution.
HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle
(quad-core Snapdragon 400 3GB RAM) and HTC 10 (quad-core Snapdragon 820 4GB
RAM):
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle is strangely set up, as it has
over 3GB of RAM, which is pretty much, but only a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon
400-processor phones. As a result, performance is not great if you want to use
it for demanding apps and games, but it should be fine for easier use and even
for multitasking.
The HTC 10 is of course much more powerful, with a high-end
Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at up to 2.15 GHz and 4 GB of RAM.
This is in line with other flagships of 2016 like the LG G5 and is more than
enough for a silky, smooth performance.
HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle
(13MP back 5MP front) vs HTC 10 (12MP back 5MP front):
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle features a 13 megapixel rear
camera with LED flash and a 5 megapixel front camera. You can also record
videos at up to 1080p and 30 frames per second. This is a solid set-up that
allows for good snapshots of both snapshots. But the HTC 10 did it, with a 12
megapixel reversing camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. Thanks to a dual LED
flash, the rear camera is better able to provide brighter, more natural images
and optical image stabilization, despite a lower number of megapixels, to
ensure that images are focused. It also has a laser autofocus, so it can focus
quickly. The front camera also has optical image stabilization, which is not
possible with the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle. With the HTC 10, videos with up to
2160 pixels and 30 frames per second can be recorded.
HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle
(2700mAh 32GB 4G) Compared to HTC 10 (3000mAh 32 / 64GB 4G):
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle has a 2700 mAh battery, which is
a reasonable size, but the 3000 mAh HTC 10 battery is larger and probably
longer - although both phones generally need to be recharged every 1 to 1.5
days. Storage starts at 32 GB on both sides, but the HTC 10 also has a 64 GB
option, and both phones have a micro SD card slot. The connectivity options
include Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G for both. The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle features
Bluetooth 4.1, while the HTC 10 comes with Bluetooth 4.2 and the HTC 10 comes with
NFC and a fingerprint scanner, which is not the case with the Desire 10
lifestyle.
