Sony
announced its flagship XPERIA XZ3 in August. So it is meaningful to hear the
whispers of his successor, which may be called XPERIA XZ4. Reliable Tipster
OnLeaks uses the technology blog MySmartPrice to publish a series of leak-based
CAD models for undeclared devices. If these renderings are accurate, then Sony
seems to be giving up the increasingly ubiquitous gap design trend, which was
popular with iPhone X last year. Therefore, the next generation XPERIA may
maintain a screen-to-body ratio similar to the XPERIA XZ3. It looks like a
6.5-inch display with an aspect ratio of 21:9.
There
are no notches or small circular cutouts like the Huawei Nova 4, front camera,
grille, proximity and ambient light sensors appear to be pressed into the top
baffle above the display. But it is on the back of the phone and things get
very interesting. Sony seems to be equipped with a system with three cameras -
this is the first appearance of its XPERIA XZ main line. Considering that there
is only one camera on the back of the XPERIA XZ3, seeing Sony jump to the
three-lens system on the next flagship product will be a big step. However, an
upgrade may be required, as the Huawei P30 and Samsung Galaxy S10 launched
early next year are equipped with similar camera settings.
Sony has dealt with several cameras,
especially with the dual camera XPERIA XZ2 Premium. Unfortunately, there is no
further information about the specifications of the camera for XPERIA XZ4.
However, we would expect that bokeh-like blurring in portraiture, optical zoom,
and improved low-light performance will occur with this number of cameras.
A notable flaw of the Sony XPERIA XZ4 is the
fingerprint scanner on the back. Earlier rumors indicate that the company will
not use an in-display ultrasound scanner in its next flagship. It looks like
Sony is putting the sensor back in the power switch on the side of the device,
as it did in the past on phones like the Sony XPERIA Z5. Based on these stains,
it looks like the company is using the same premium glass surface on the back
as the XPERIA XZ3 last year. Disappointing with these renderings is no
indication of a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Last month, OnePlus was the latest
Android maker to abandon the universal audio port with the introduction of its
OnePlus 6T handset. Samsung is widely used to erase the 3.5 mm headphone jack
of the Galaxy Note 10 next year as well.
