HTC has always been a leader when it comes to stylish
smartphone design. The Taiwanese technology company has built some amazingly
beautiful devices, including the brushed aluminum unibody HTC One M8 and the
colorful Desire Eye. His designs have been so consistently impressive that many
other leading manufacturers of pinching have accused their best ideas.
The new HTC One A9 from HTC looks as if it had been separated
with the world's best-selling smartphone - Apple's iPhone 6 - from birth.
Fortunately, the One A9, like the iPhone 6, is an amazing kit. The metal
chassis is slim, sleek and lightweight, making it so comfortable to hold in
your hand. The high-resolution 5-inch AMOLED display ensures that your content
looks crisp, shiny and colorful - but they are not comparable to flagship
Samsung, Sony or LG Ultra HD displays. Powering the One A9 is Qualcomm's
Snapdragon 617 processor, which performs smoothly for most tasks, but again lags
behind the speed of its flagship competition. For most users, this slight lack
of pomp is probably not a problem, but power users should probably stay away
from the One A9.
The 13-megapixel rear-view camera from HTC delivers decent
pictures, and the bundled image stabilizer is a nice bonus. In good light we
were impressed with what the One A9 had to offer, but like most smartphones,
the camera will soon start when the sun goes down. Selfies are processed by
HTC's UltraPixel front camera. None of the shooters will worry about Samsung or
Apple, but for most amateur photographers this will be enough. If you're
looking for a video, the HTC One A9 can record videos with a maximum resolution
of 1080p HD. Unfortunately, unlike the HTC M9, there is no way to record in
Ultra HD 4K quality. However, you can shoot in slow-motion and hyper-lapse
modes, and add some drama to your home videos.
One of the best features of the One A9 is that Android 6.0
Marshmallow is preinstalled. HTC worked closely with Google for the HTC One A9
to make sure the open-source operating system was fast, fluid, and easy to
navigate. There is also a handy fingerprint scanner, support for Hi-Res audio
playback and expandable memory. Thanks to Android Marshmallow's intelligent new
Doze mode, which shuts down all unused apps, you can easily recharge your
batteries all day with HTC's new smartphone. In addition, it is possible to
reduce the life of a single battery.
HTC admits that the One A9 should not replace the One M9
flagship smartphone. Because of this, the Taiwanese company has not added any
top-end specifications. That's why we got frustrated with the One A9. From some
major retail retailers, the One A9 costs up to £ 469 without SIM cards. That's
£ 10 more than Apple's iPhone 6. To make matters worse, our friends on the
other side of the pond first received the A9 with better specs priced at just $
399 (some £ 240 converted). Unfortunately, HTC fans in the UK are facing a
phone that is overpriced for what's in it.
It looks smart; it's fast enough to process your daily dose
of social media, videos, photos, and the latest Android marshmallow tricks and
features. However, there is no justification for the ridiculous price in the
UK. HTC competes with cheaper cell phones like the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X and
the One plus 2. The biggest problem for this iPhone, however, is that you can
buy the superior smartphone from Apple at a cheaper price.
