Hands on Samsung launched the Galaxy A9 - its most
comprehensive offensive against the double threats of SIM-only subscribers and
Chinese giant Huawei. The setback involves a stronger mid-range trade-in,
promising a better turnaround for mistakes and repairs. Smartphone sales in the
mid-price segment rose 46 percent in the UK last year to 21 percent of the
market. As shoppers became more selective, Samsung Product, Service and Trading
Officer, Kate Beaumont, explained.
With rival Huawei, two divisions can effectively compete with
each other, using common parts and the benefit of scaling. Samsung does the
same. The today announced mid-range Galaxy A9 will cost £ 549 in Blight, about
as much as last year's flagship Galaxy S8, which Samsung continues to sell and
support (it's about £ 599 before closing). The specifications of the Galaxy A9
are trying to bring something at a price that has been abandoned by many OEMs,
as they cost their flagship ships higher. It's a strong package: the first
quad-camera phone (24 MP + 2 x 10 MP telephoto + 8 MP Ultra Wide and a 5MP
depth sensor), 128GB / 6GB and a 6.3-inch 1080x display 2220 pixels. Even the
non-replaceable battery is with 3,800 mAh stronger than the comparable S9. It
requires Micro SD memory cards and supports Samsung Pay.
The two-tone color choice is reminiscent of Huawei / Honor
"Twilight" models. The back has a subtle texture, which makes it less
slippery. It resembles a S9 + and does not look cheap or cheap. I found it before
today's start in a preview. The phone is about the same weight - but since I
know the S9 + well, I much prefer the placement of the sensor on the new A9. It
is easier to reach and is not stacked next to the camera sensors. This should
stay clean longer. Users can easily activate the wide-angle view of a scene via
a screen icon. Zooming is more difficult and requires shifting the trigger,
which is a bit contrapuntal and difficult to accomplish. I found it up to 8x,
but up to 2x lossless.
I found the color reproduction through the viewfinder very
different and varied in well-lit interiors from green to brown. However, this
is a pre-production software. The depth lens lets you adjust the bokeh effect
or blur after taking the photo. Overall, it looks and feels like it should be
at this price. And there is no notch. Samsung annoyed Google's gigantic
neckline saying "You could land a plane on it." Two major features
distinguish the much more expensive S9: waterproof and wireless charging. But
both can be seen at last year's S8. And now I mention it, the S7. And also the
players should stick to the S-series. This is not an unpleasant surprise - with
a lot of RAM there should be no delay as I found this on the BlackBerry KEY2,
which has the same 660 / 6GB combination.
Samsung had already mid-2018 its midfield before today's
splash concretized. This is also aggressive, if the previous year's areas
prevailed. The A7 features a striking 1080x2220 6-inch display and is available
in 4GB / 64GB or 6GB / 128GB versions. The Galaxy J6 has a lower resolution,
but still an excellent display, without having to do without the conventional
micro SD card slot.
