Sony
announces several new computers, including a 15 inch IPS cable with natural
resolution of 2880 x 1620 pixels. A laptop named VAIO Flip 15 can control an
external HDMI monitor with a resolution of 4K (3820 x 2160 pixels).
Sony’s
touch screen strategy was very strong; the company did not want to go. In
October 2012, when starting Microsoft Windows 8, 40% of the VAIO series
computer was equipped with a touch screen. Last spring, this number increased
to 90%. With these announcements and announcement of integration, Sony claims
that 98% of today's computers have touch screens.
Sony
also provides standard equipment for some new models (it will be available as a
substitute for other companies). Sony announced that it has partnered with
Adobe to support Active Pen with Adobe Illustrator Creative Cloud and Adobe
Photoshop Creative Cloud software.
VAIO Flip PC:
Because
the VAIO Flip PC series uses a unique second hinge and a thin rubber film, you
can turn the display on the backlit keyboard. You can press the back of the
screen towards the top of the keyboard and use the laptop as a tablet. This
concept is very similar to Lenovo's yoga series, but when you turn the screen
around, the yoga keyboard ends on the desktop.
In
addition to the 15-inch model, Sony has also announced a 13-inch and 14-inch
VAIO Flip PC. These smaller screens have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080
pixels and do not support 4K output from HDMI output. However, these three
models contain two innovations from Sony's TV division: the Triluminos display
technology (which offers a wide color gamut) and the X-Reality image engine
from Sony.
All
three models use most of the aluminum chassis and the bottom is made of
lightweight fiberglass panels. The 13-inch model comes standard with a SSD of
128 GB. The 14-inch and 15-inch models are equipped with mechanical hard drives
and SSDs are available as an optional upgrade. All three products will rely on
GPUs integrated into their Haswell-class CPUs (Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7
SKUs are available), but both 14-inch and 15-inch models have optional separate
graphics cards in the form of Nvidia GeForce GT 735M (with 1 GB or 2 GB video
memory). The VAIO Flip 13 weighs 2.6 pounds, the VAIO 14 inch weighs 4.2
pounds, and the 15-inch weight weighs 4.6 pounds.
VAIO Tap 11:
Sony
also introduced a new PC / Tablet hybrid, the VAIO Tap 11. The 11.6-inch touch
screen is only 0.39 inches thick and the aluminum keyboard is completely
independent. The keyboard is connected to the screen by a magnet and is used as
a cover during the trip. When both are connected, the screen also charges the
battery on the keyboard.
It
does not include a mouse, but the keyboard has an integrated multi-touch
keyboard. The VAIO Tap 11 is powered by Haswell class processors (from the
Pentium input processor and Core i7). Sony's digital pen will use as standard
device and 128 GB SSD will also be used as a standard device. The Ultrabook
also has a built-in infrared transmitter that can be used with Sony Side View
software to control the TV and other hardware in the home entertainment center.
VAIO Tap 21:
The
latest announcement from Sony for today is the VAIO Tap 21, an aluminum version
of the previous Tap 20. The Tap 21 has a 21.5-inch screen and a native
resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels; Tap 20 had a 20-inch screen and was limited
to 1600 by 900 pixels. With a weight of only 8 kilos, Tap 21 is 50 percent
slimmer and 30 percent lighter than Tap 20. In addition, the Tap 20's hinge has
been redesigned so that it can be placed at any angle, from completely flat to
almost vertical without taking it up.
