The first Galaxy device to receive the Android security patch
in September 2018 is the Galaxy J5 (2017). J5 (2017) was updated to Android 8.1
Oreo almost a month ago, and Samsung has now expanded the availability of Oreo
updates for the UAE. The phone will also receive a September security patch as
part of the Android 8.1 Oreo update. However, the owner of the Galaxy J5 (2017)
may not be overly enthusiastic, as Samsung continues to release Android
7.0-based device updates in some markets.
Samsung's usage time is a bit longer than usual with the
latest security update this month. This may be because the company updated more
devices in the August 2018 security patch, including a quick update of all
newer flagship phones. Whether there will be similar results in September
remains to be seen. The September update is definitely an important update, as
it has not led to critical vulnerabilities in Android in recent months. Use the
latest patch to fix 18 security holes that are only a threat to Samsung software.
To download updates for the Galaxy J5 (2017), open the
phone's App Settings, click Software Updates, and then click Download Updates
Manually. You can also update your phone by downloading firmware from our
database. As previously mentioned, the Galaxy J5 Prime Android Oreo update will
launch a wireless (OTA) package. You can see availability on your device by
going to Settings> Software Updates. It is recommended that you back up your
data before proceeding with the update. It is recommended that you download
updates using high-speed data or a Wi-Fi connection.
Recall that the Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime was first launched in
2016 and announced a new 32GB storage model earlier this year. The smartphone
Android 6.0 sparkling beer got a nougat update for Android 7.0 in October. With
regard to the specification, the dual-card Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime uses the
Samsung Exynos 7870 SoC with 3 GB of memory Supports scalable memory (up to 256
GB) via microSD card. This smartphone has a 5-inch HD screen. In terms of optics,
there is 13 megapixel autofocus with f / 1.9 apertures and LED flash In
addition, an 8 megapixel front camera. The phone powers a 2400 mAh battery.
Design and Display:
Samsung has made some notable changes to its design,
including removing the chunky camera bump from last year's model. The rear
camera now sits flush with the case and reduces the risk of unwanted scratches
on the lens. Another welcome feature is the J5's all-metal unibody chassis,
which makes it feel much more luxurious than the plastic case of its
predecessor. And the newly rounded and beveled edges of the phone help fit it
more appropriately in the palm of your hand and give you a flagship feel for a
fraction of the price.
The 2017 model of the Galaxy J5 has a resolution of 1,280 x 720.
Although this is quite low, it is still a great display even at this price.
Thanks to the Super AMOLED panel, Vibrancy is an incredible looking screen for
the price for what's lacking in pixels. And it's also pretty bright. In Auto
Brightness mode, the 756 cd / m2 Galaxy J5 even achieves a brightness that is
bright enough to ensure readability even in bright ambient light.
Performance and Battery
Life:
Supported by the dual-core Exynos 7870 processor and 2GB of
RAM, I did not think about Galaxy J5 performance. But surprisingly, it won.
Mobile phones near this price tend to use mid-range CPUs, so performance may be
a weakness. The Galaxy J5, however, proved responsive and usable. In the
Geekbench 4 multicore test he won 3,736, a 50% increase over the previous
year's model. Even with the single-core performance, it scored poorly with 800
points. See how the Galaxy J5 and its competitors work.
In terms of real performance, J5 is relatively poor and can
handle most instant actions, including most Android games. GFX's Manhattan 3
test value of 10 frames per second is low, indicating that it cannot cope with
the most demanding 3D scenes, but everyday games like Crossy Road, Three and
even Sky Force Reloaded work without any problems.
Battery life has also improved compared to last year's
equipment. In the standard video destruction battery test at 170 cd / m2, the
2017 Galaxy J5 took 18 hours and 26 hours to recharge. It's almost two hours
longer than Samsung's flagship Galaxy S8.
Camera:
Our expectations for the Galaxy J5 camera are not high;
mostly because most mid-range phones in this category do not have impressive
camera kits. It's also the fact that we're disappointed with the 2016 J5 model
camera, which has an over-exposure trend with a similar 13 megapixel resolution
and a tiny aperture of 1: 1.7. But the actual use is not the case, we found out
that the camera features of the phone have some encouraging improvements.
The image is usually sharper, the definition is clearer, the
color rendering is greatly improved and the visible noise is low. Even poor
lighting conditions are handled well, and the daylight photography provides
more vitality and more details. This is a camera with more features than you
would expect at this price.
